Namibia Desert Adventure
Cape Town to Cape Town |
 |
Namibia is an extraordinary country, considered by some to be paradise because of its wide horizons, contrasting landscapes and pristine beauty. It offers the traveler an experience par excellence and a visit to Namibia must feature on every traveler's "to do list". With more than half of the country is classified as either arid or extremely arid, it offers the traveler a pleasant climate, clean air and clear blue skies.
Come and enjoy endless nights under the Milky Way and be delighted as you'll be taken on a journey through our galaxy by your local experts. Namibia is not only one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, but it is also home to one of the oldest deserts in the world - the Namib Desert. The contrasts to be found in Namibia are unlike anywhere else in Africa, from the plant and wildlife to the unique geological natural wonders such as the Fish River Canyons.
Our journey will start in Cape Town and end back in the mother city after visiting the Namibian capital Windhoek. After we have explored the best of the Cape Peninsula and visited Table Mountain, our journey will take us north towards the Namibian border through an area known as Namaqualand, a semi arid region known for its flower beauty in spring. Crossing the border into Namibia we ride along the banks of the Orange River to Luderitz where we will visit the ghost mining town of Kolmanskop and the desert dwelling feral horses at Aus. We follow the gravel roads north along the edge of the Namib Naukluft Park via Zaris to Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and Sesriem as we continue to the coastal town of Swakopmund. Swakopmund is a two night stopover for us to fully enjoy its German culture and Colonial feel. En route to Windhoek we visit the moon landscape and Welwitchia Route.
The capital of Namibia, Windhoek is a compulsory stop for us in a country this vast, roughly four times the size of the United Kingdom. No visit to the capital will be complete without a visit to Joe's Beer House, a local eatery which has become synonymous with Windhoek. We head down south through the Kalahari region known for its red dunes and wild roaming Oryx antelope. Before we cross the border back into South Africa we make a detour to the world’s second largest canyon, the Fish River Canyon. Thereafter we spend our last two days on the bikes reflecting on the experience we have enjoy, places we have visited and friends we have made as we ride into Cape Town.
