Namibia Damaraland Adventure

Our Namibia Damaraland Adventure Motorcycle tour commence from the Noordoewer border post between South Africa and Namibia. Our journey follows a circular route which leads us back to the banks of the Orange River a few days later. From Noordoewer our journey takes us to the capital of Namibia, Windhoek via Gochas in the heart of the Kalahari Desert. After four days of traveling we reach one of Africa's prime destinations, Etosha National Park. Here you'll have the option to join an organized game drive in one of Africa's most prestigious parks. We continue west along the gravel roads heading for Uis at the foot of Namibia's highest mountain, the Brandberg (2574m). En route we visit Twyfelfontein, this region is known as Africa's largest open air art museum with more than 44 000 rock paintings and carvings. It also offers visitors another two famous geological features, the dolerite pillars known as the organ pipes and the "burnt mountain".

Next is Swakopmund and to fully appreciate the town's German culture and Colonial feel, we have decided to make it a two night stay. A full day should allow us to either enjoy the array of outdoor activities the town has to offer, or to perhaps ride the Welwitschia Route with the well known moon landscape and 1500 year old Welwitschia Mirabilis. After relaxing for a day we travel along the edge of the Namib Naukluft Park to reach Solitaire from where we explore Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon. The hilly highland plateau known as the Khomas Hochland presents us with the Gamsberg and Spreetshoogte passes and en route to Sossusvlei we have to conquer them. We head further south to reach Aus.

After a visit to Luderitz and the ghost town Kolmanskop, we relax at the Garub viewpoint where we may be fortunate to view the desert dwelling feral horses in the wild. From Aus our journey will take us along the banks of the Orange to our last stop in Namibia. We spend our last night on the outskirts of the world's second largest canyon, the Fish River Canyon. After a splendid stay of 14 nights on the Namibia Damaraland Adventure Motorcycle tour, we sadly have to bid Namibia farewell.

The tour price excludes the rental of a suitable motorcycle* as it is assumed participants will have their motorcycles to use for the duration of the tour. Swartberg Biking can assist with the rental of a suitable motorcycle for the duration of the tour. It is important to note that about 60 % of the roads traveled are gravel roads and a very short distance will be done on a salt road. To minimize the chance of injury and or accidents, it is advisable that participants need to have some experience riding gravel and sandy surfaces. It is also advisable to have knobblies fitted for the duration of the tour and to have completed the BMW Off Road beginners training course.
